Strawberry skin

Why do your legs get spots after shaving and what can you do about it?

You know that feeling when you stand in front of the mirror with freshly shaved legs and the smooth, even skin you were expecting isn't looking back at you? Instead, your skin is dotted with tiny, dark dots that look like strawberry seeds? This is called strawberry legs - and although harmless, for many people it is annoying and aesthetically disturbing.

What actually causes it?

Although shaving is a common culprit, there are several possible causes of strawberry legs:

  • Large or clogged pores – when the hair follicles are filled with oil, dead skin cells, or hair stubs, they appear as dark spots on the skin.

  • Thick, dark fur – the hair underneath the skin is often visible, especially on light skin.

  • Ingrown hairs, folliculitis – frequent hair removal, poor shaving, and irritation can also cause spotty, inflamed skin.

  • Genetic predisposition – some people have skin with larger pores and are more prone to this phenomenon.

What didn't work out for many

Most people first try home remedies:

  • frequent shaving → unfortunately, it often only worsens the irritation,

  • skin exfoliation, acid peeling → temporary improvement, but does not eliminate the underlying cause,

  • wax or epilator → works for some, causes ingrown hairs for others.

These methods are symptomatic treatments at best. The root of the problem is the hair and the hair follicle, which will be there again and again - and with it the spots.

Permanent solution: laser hair removal

The Elysion Pro diode laser we use targets hair follicles and gradually deactivates them. As the hair disappears, the pores shrink, the spots fade and then disappear. The treatment is gentle and can bring about dramatic improvements after just a few sessions.

"After the third treatment, it was clear that my feet were no longer spotty. This has been the most bothersome thing for years."

In short: if you want smooth, spot-free legs...

...laser hair removal could be the solution you've been looking for. The treatment targets not only the hair, but also the underlying cause of the strawberry legs - leaving your skin smooth, even and ready to show off, even up close.

If you'd like to find out if it would work for you, book a consultation where we'll assess your skin and discuss the options - informally and in a personalized way.
